Hux could not believe what he was seeing. The Supreme Leader, the man whose favorite he wanted to be, was dead. How could that be? Snoke had been so strong. He had shaped everything to his will. His charisma had been immense. But there was something else. When Snoke sat on his throne, everyone looked at him in fear. And now? Dead, simply dead.

Hux looked at the corpse in disgust. The upper body was lying on the floor and the lower body was still sitting on the throne. The severed left hand of the Supreme Leader still lay on the armrest. The general looked at Snoke's face and saw that his tongue was hanging halfway out of his mouth.
Suddenly the lower body slid off the throne and landed on the floor with a thud.
Hux remembered how the Supreme Leader had treated him in front of his subordinates. How he had been thrown to the ground and how his lower lip bled as he was dragged across the polished floor of the Finalizer. Somehow, Snoke had deserved his fate.
And then a thought occurred to him.
He could be the Supreme Leader.
Supreme Leader Hux - how that sounded.
A bastard would be the ruler of the galaxy. Everyone would see that he was capable of great things.

Then his eyes fell on Kylo Ren, who was lying on the floor.
Unconscious.
Defenceless.
His rival.
This was the chance to settle the issue once and for all.
Hux was about to grab his blaster. He would end Ren's life.
But before he could even touch the weapon, Ren regained consciousness.
It was too late. The chance to seize power seemed lost, but perhaps the final chapter had not yet been written.
